The South Willamette Prescribed Burn Association and Center for Rural Livelihoods present a Prescribed Fire Field Workshop at Native Oaks Ridge. Come learn skills and build relationships to prepare for a prescribed burn. Join local fire practitioners in the field for a series of sessions on cultural burning, fire effects monitoring, oak-prairie ecology, fire lighting techniques for varied slopes and aspects, engine operations, and radio communications.
Instructors include: Joe Scott, Tiffany Perez, Katie MacKendrick, Sara Fraser, Amanda Gonzales
This field workshop intends to help build relationships among neighbors and interested community members in preparation for burning a 14-acre meadow at Native Oaks Ridge. It offers an opportunity for people new to prescribed burning and people with years of experience to build a shared understanding of prescribed fire techniques and approaches to help prepare for burning together. This is part 1 of a 2 part series and does not include live fire; attendees will have the chance to participate in burn day in part 2 of the workshop series.
