Disaster Councils & Climate Collapse
In a world of ecological and atmospheric catastrophe, CRL is engaging and expanding the Lane County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) network. The Lane County COAD is a coalition of organizations dedicated to enhancing the preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in Lane County. It brings together a network of diverse non-profits, businesses, faith-based organizations, and government agencies to collaborate and coordinate resources during active disasters. The COAD aims to support communities by organizing services, managing volunteers, and ensuring a unified approach to disaster management.
CRL facilitates collaboration among COAD members, offers training opportunities, hosts topical speakers, and engages in neighborhood organizing around the cascading crises. Disaster can bring out the best in us (as shown in Rebecca Solnit’s A Paradise Built in Hell) – working together amidst the intensity of a calamity builds the solidarity we so sorely need.
By leveraging our expertise in community-driven programming, CRL is developing a culture of care to support our communities in times of disaster.
